Earplug Study Case

We were approached by a customer to perform a leak study on earplugs and determine
leak rate dependability on pressure differential exposure. The ideal earplug would
present a lower depressurization rate to reduce passengers' unpleasant experience
during landing instead of plug which would act as a blocker maintaining the pressure
differential and passengers' discomfort.
The following data shows a comparative study on earplug performance for different
altitudes between two different companies:
Company A

Company B

As shown above, company A presents the best performance in terms of differentiating
leak rate as function of altitude. Otherwise, company B Shows minimum response
to altitude dependency on leak rate.
